So soft and curly, lambskin doll wigs for Huret and French fashions

A short style of all over little curls, so soft and curly. Made from real lambskin, just like the old dollies had many years ago. Perfect for Huret, French fashions and other fine french dolls, antique or reproduction.  I make my hand sewn lambskin wigs in three colors, Natural white, light tea stained blond and solid black.   Note, I do not custom dye skin wigs in other colors other then natural white, light blond and Black. Most wigs that are shown are in a light blond.

Please see how to measure page on my website, it is so easy, only two seperate measurements. When measureing for any handmade wig of mine, make sure your doll has a pate on her head,a pate she will always wear, this will assure a very nice fit when her new wig is placed on her head.

I have made lambskin wigs for many years and I enjoy making them . These type of wigs are so soft and curly and are perfect to replace those old skin wigs the dolls use too have rotted away, they are also perfect for those old Bru’s that look fabulous in them . Lamb skin wigs are all hand sewn and can be made in many sizes.     As far as colors available, I can make them in tea stained  light blonde , natural white or Black.

When ordering, use my wig  measuring instructions on my site and also give me the measurement over the top of the head, ear top to ear top, with pate on, that gives me the depth the skin wig has to be made in, to fit the head properly.

Studio’s.... If ordering more then three of one size, send me a blank head with the pate you will be using for all , attached. I will use your dolls head as a model for all the wigs you order in that size to recheck fit before sending. Do not send me a nicely painted head, but send me a plain unpainted head, something you would toss. From time to time I do drop heads when working on them.

Please order carefully, wigs are not returnable. Please see how to measure for skin wigs and all other wigs on my How To Measure  page on my website, measuring is so easy.

How to apply your skin wig to your dolls head after you receive it.

For proper fit, wig should be glued on with a water base glue, such as Arleens Tacky Glue, which can be found at Walmart or Michaels or any craft store. Glue should be smeared on the inside edge of the wig cap only. wig should be left until the glue becomes tacky, about a minute, then placed on the head to dry. Check it as it dries on your doll head by pressing along the edge of the wig, this is important so it adheres properly. Sometimes no glue is needed, so check the fit before applying the glue. You may also use two sided  Scotch tape method mentioned below  .

If the wig is a little messed up after doing any of these methods, wet your fingers with water and fluff the wig with your fingers, arranging the curls where you want them, do not comb, combing will just make the wig look like a big tumbleweed. If you do comb your skin wig by mistake, spray the wig with a light spray hair conditioner, or water, then fluff as it dries with your fingers on the dolls head to bring up the curls.

The second way of applying your skin wig is to place two sided tape on the inside edge of the doll wig, a little piece here and there works well, no need to go all around with one long piece. Once you place your doll wig where you want it on the head , press around the edges of the wig to get the tape to adhere to the bisque, this always works well and makes the wig look more natural looking along the outside edge of the wig.. The tape method , over the glue method, is really is the best, this way if you ever want to change it so she can wear other wigs, it is easy to remove without damaging your dolls head.

Two sided Scotch tape can be found in any office supply area at Target, Walmart , Hobby Lobby or Office supply store. Do not use carpet tape.

I have also heard that glue dots work well. I have not tried these, but scrapbookers love using them for lambskin wigs as an adhesive.

A word of caution-  Because I make skin wigs in the measurements you give me, your skin wig is already custom made to fit, So ,there is no need to dunk the wig in water like it was done in the old days to shrink it or make it larger.  If you do decide to dunk the wig in water, you may lose some of the staining I have done to the wig, also some of the nice conditioners I use to style your skin wig.   Always cover your dolls clothing with towels if working with a wet skin wig to protect your dolls clothing.
